Paul (Saul) of Tarsus, (present day Turkey) commonly known as Saint Paul the Apostle was actually a well- educated gentile seeking to be a Jew. He did not follow Jesus’ early ministry AND he was actually persecuting Christians! Between four and seven years after the death of Jesus, he was on the road to Damascus traveling to round up Christians and deliver them for punishment. It was here he experienced a revelation of the resurrected Jesus who said, “Saul, why do you persecute me?” It is written in Acts that he received special commission from Jesus to be “the apostle of the gentiles” and to spread the Gospel message. After his conversion, Paul was driven by passion and love for Christ and His Church. He spread the teachings of Christianity throughout the Roman Empire and is often considered to be the most important person after Jesus in the history of Christianity. His epistles, or letters, have had enormous influence on Christian theology. Saint Paul’s main message is this, “Faith in Jesus guarantees a share in His life.”
Saint Paul is the patron saint of missions, writers, publishers, theologians and gentiles. Our window is in loving memory of Crawford H. Ferguson and was made by the Connick Window Company in 1968.
